Day 2: Waffles and Fairy Tales

This morning began rather early for us on account of the cold! Steve left the basement window open, and Clair left the cool air on, and then it rained in SLC. We woke up freezing. Ack! It was refreshing, however, and gave the kids an excuse to be let into our bed for snuggling with mom and day before the day began.

Mason seems to have caught the sniffles (from Cooper) and it in the throws of his first official head cold. He's endured a few other things, but nothing like this. There are boogers EVERYWHERE. Ick. But we're managing with tissues, tylenol, and anti-histamine, and lots of love.

Life at grandma's is wonderful. After our chilly good morning, we all filed upstairs for warm waffles dressed the way only Clair would think up. Mountains of whipped cream! Cooper loved them and he and June (cousins came over for breakfast) gobbled them up as fast as gramps could cook them.

Then Junie and Cooper played in the basement while the men started a snooker tournament. The basement has a new asset that the guys are all pretty excited about... a pool table. I get the sense that Matt's not too good at it. But Clair and Steve have certainly seen their share of pool halls. Is this a good thing?

At their feet June and Coop played airplanes and convinced Grandma to read fairy tales. Rapunzel is the favorite. June loves Rapunzel and Cooper loves the witch. Now the buddies are sitting together in grandpa's swivel office chair. They take turns swirling each other and begging me to kick them around in circles. So cute!

Tomorrow we're heading to the dinosaur thingy at T-point. Will post a commentary when we get home.

PS -- I'm a nomad for the next 12 days.
