Tiny Details

Our Sunday rituals commenced a little behind schedule and so we found ourselves at our regular breakfast place right in the middle of the after-church-let's-go-to-breakfast crowd. After Steve put our name on the list we all stood around outside the restaurant with the crowds. Coop asked, "Why are we out here?" We tried to explain that we needed to wait our turn before we could sit down and have breakfast.
He sternly looked at us then stomped his foot and said, "We do not wait!" My, my, my... But he was right. I guess he charmed the right hostess because within minutes our name was called, we were led to a great table, and our order was up -- well ahead of the crowds. Our breakfast this morning was harbinger of our big news: We finished the bathroom. You know, the one that derailed all our previously started renovation projects. So, to recap, we tore out the carpet, sink, toilet, and all other brass nonsense left by the previous owners. Then we patched the walls, had them re-mudded, laid slate tile, installed a conspicuously expensive (but oh so lovely) sink, seated a toilet, and hung new brushed nickel nonsense. We've not hung any art, yet. But we know we're going to use some black and white prints -- perhaps some of my own -- and frame them in wood that is stained to match the new washstand. And before I forget let me say that we also removed and repainted (then re-installed) all the trim. (I'm perhaps most impressed with the improvement to the trim.) I might splurge and buy a nickel-ish wastebasket and soap dispenser. But I'm still on the fence about that.
In case you've forgotten this was all done on an exigent schedule. We were in the middle of some other renovations that we had to put on hold while the bathroom was completed. Note to self: Do not leave Cooper (and/or Mason) in bathroom by themselves.
If you're wanting an update on the other renovation projects, you'll have to wait. We've moved along slowly with them and we're not much further than we were 3 months ago.

Photo Notes: These are various shots of Cooper helping us along the way, and the finished product. Let me apologize in advance for those shots. The lighting is pretty low in there. If you want to see it, come on over. We're ready for visitors!

This is really classy. I love it. If you want to buy bath accessories, check out the TJ Maxx and Ross's in your area first. I bought several types/finishes from there at greatly reduced prices.
I can't wait to see it. We are planning to be there over Memorial Day.
